I guess you gotta have friends.

I lean my weight forward and lock my heels together. Then listen to the back tire as it skids across the pavement.

I lock up the back tire and come sliding up perfectly to the line at the traffic light.  I was unneeded as usual, but, it was fun. I think showing off is probably the entire reason I ride a fixed gear sometimes really.

Then I hear my name being called.  Which is really surprising. Considering there are really only a handful people who should know me on sight.  Those people are mostly coffee shop rats and firefighters. Then I look around, and spotted in an ambulance two slots behind me Emt’s leaning out, waving, and calling my name. You gotta have friends I guess.

But I was struck right then. Do you really want to be on a first name basis with the local emergency response crew. And know that you are on that basis because of how many times they have cleaned you up, from bleeding out of random ditches.

Should have seen this coming

There have not been as many post lately. Mostly because I have had really a hard time expressing myself lately. I will start a thread or an idea, than lose my train of thought and not be into anymore. Or I will get done with something and it will not be as good, or at least not to share with the general world.

So I should have seen I had an interesting weekend coming when I had a disgruntled bus driver named Anne giving me a ride to the ferry

I did make it where I was going, went to the Sci-Fi Museum and the mall and a I happened to find myself in the path for the rally for proposition 8 . So I hung out and people watched for a bit.

You know, when the life of my story is done, I hope the librarian reads it and mis-files it in the travel humour section.

Haven’t been called “Cowboy” in ages.

I haven’t been called “Cowboy” in a very long time. And truthfully I sorta miss it, but really only when a certain person does it. I was talking to a friend of mine last night, and she brought up the last time we hung in Alabama together.

Here is more or less how it happened
We were walking downtown headed away from the Alabama theater. She teased me so I spun her around pinned her to a wall and looked into her eyes. She looked at me and her eyes flashed mischievously, her lips curled up at each end into that beautiful smirk she has. With my hands on the wall at both sides of her head, she just titled her face playfully to the side and said.

“Cowboy I think today is the luckiest day of your life.”

Looking back I think Sarah was right.

Every now and then you get something cool in the mail.

Every now and then you get something cool in the mail, and it just brightens your entire day. Last week when I was getting onto the bus I did something stupid. I dropped a Canadian coin I was given back when I was in high school into the coin slot. I half expected to never see it again. But after writing a letter to the county transit concern, and dropping it into a coin slot.

What can I say, stamps are exspensive.

Either way I got my coin back in the mail today, along with letter saying they this is something they don’t normally do.

That looks heavy

So I called up Jake and told him to come down to the coffee shop because we had a group down there knitting.

You would expect a Sunday morning spent knitting in a coffee shop would go quietly. Nah, excitement found us. Apparently that was the one day the year they measure their attempt at the World’s Longest Scarf. Being as we are adventurous people, Jake ending up wearing the 496 foot scarf before we left.

You aren’t from around here are you?

First off, I have made some massive upgrades to my gallery. I am really excited and happy about that. Plus there are a lot of new pictures in several of the galleries.

So I got this call from Apple saying my computer was done in the middle of the week, but I haven’t had any free time until this weekend. Which meant another expedition into Seattle proper. This time Jake went with me.

We decided to take public transportation, because it is nearly $30.00 to take a car on the ferry, but about $12.00 for us to walk on and then $5.00 total for the bus. Plus life is a bit more interesting when you get out in the world and live.

So we rode the ferry from Bainbridge to Seattle. We were sitting on the sun deck and enjoying the weather, when I noticed this girl who wasn’t remotely dressed for the weather. So I asked her; “Were are you from, you are really over dressed compared to locals?” She responded with,”Germany.” So we talked for the rest of the boat trip about all of our travels around the globe. She told us about her stays in the U.S. and South America. Jake talked  about Asia and South America. And I talked about the U.S. and Europe. We all had travels in common. It was only after talking about traveling for 15 minutes did we find out her name was Ana. Travelers always seem to hit it off pretty quickly.

The boat landed a bit later and she decided to come with us for a cup coffee and then walk around downtown Seattle for a bit.

I suggested the International District sense there was a picture I wanted.

So we meandered over that way. After getting us lost in King station I got the picture I wanted.

I got it.

Then we got our drinks before spending the next few hours walking around downtown.

Eventually, we went our separate ways. Jake and I went and got my computer back and caught the ferry back across the water. Before leaving I noticed the lighting was perfect over the bay and got a few more pictures of the city.

Halfway there

I got up looking for my computer this morning, only to realize I took it to the apple store on saturday for repair. So I am with out my own computer for 2-3 days. Which sucks because I was in the middle of intergrating my gallery with Stupidhurts website better.

I got my rig in the mail a few days ago, and rode it 30 some odd on saturday. I dont know how people ride brakeless there between cars and inatentive drivers.

On a side note my scarf has broken 5-1/2 feet. Which indicates it will eventually be done.

I got woke up out of a nap for this.

My roommate woke me up out from a decently good nap a few days ago to tell me the sun was setting over the bay we live near. So I got out and took a few pictures of this sleepy little town, and this is some of what I came out with.

Once I get my bike, I plan on making these rides.

I plan on making these Seattle rides once I get my fixed gear back. Riding Jake’s mountain bike the past few weeks has been killing me slowly.

The Humpday Hustle: 7pm at Redsquare. Every Wednesday

Seattle Critical Mass: Meet at Westlake Square on Westlake Ave.5:30 PM last Friday of every month.

Greenlake Race: Last Friday of every month (after Critical Mass). Meet by the bleachers at the South-end of the lake at midnight.

There are a lots of other rides in Seattle, and the town I live it. I will make post about them on occasion.

This is when I break out the photoshop in the middle of the night.

I keep saying we all need hobbies.

knitting

After getting almost a foot done with my scarf I took a break from my knitting, and I tried to make a few small upgrades StupidHurts. Those few small upgrades turned into a few major changes as they are want to do, and this is what I came up with.
